Good morning everyone,
Our focus for the week of 10/16:
Reading: “Smash Crash” – high frequency words (to, a, I, am, little, the, is, see) , sequence, nouns, characters.
Phonics: Beginning sounds (Ff, Cc)
Math: Geometry 2D/3D shapes ( moving shapes, plane figures, triangle, square, rectangle, circle).
Religion: God Promises a Savior.
Social Studies: Nocturnal animals
Science: Investigating pumpkins
REMINDERS:
NO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 18TH. SCHOOL CLOSED FOR THE FUNERAL. PLEASE REFER TO MRS. DUROCHER’S EMAIL REGARDING. PICTURE DAYS HAVE BEEN MOVED TO NOVEMBER 7TH AND 8TH.
Monday 10/16 – Winter uniform begins.
Winter uniform for all boys is the white shirt with the gray vest 0r sweater, black pants and black shoes.
Girls in grades K – 2 wear the plaid jumper, white blouse and black shoes no boots!
Tuesday 10/17 – K-1 attends Book Fair. Please place money in an envelope with students name.
Friday 10/20 – Field Trip money due by today.
Read-a-thon – Please continue to support our read-a-thon currently underway. This is a great way to earn participation points. A participation point is earned for every $100 raised. Thank you to those who have already supported our class and our school. Please continue reading with your child it is so very important. Thank you!

REMINDERS:
Next week beginning October 16th ALL STUDENTS K-8 MUST WEAR THE WINTER UNIFORM.

Reading: “Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip with Kindergarten” – high frequency words (is, the, little, blue, yellow) Letters (Tt-Zz), classify, setting, characters.
Phonics: Beginning sounds (Ii, Rr)
Math: Geometry 2D/3D shapes (cylinder, cone, sphere, cube, rectangular prism).
Religion: Adam and Eve.
Social Studies: Fire Prevention
Science: Pumpkins/ Pumpkin life cycle

REMINDERS:
Tomorrow is a half day with dismissal at 11:55a.m. AfterCare is available. If your child is staying in AfterCare please let me know and provide them with a lunch otherwise only a snack is needed .
Tomorrow is also a “TagDay” which means it is a dress down day for $1.00. If students want to wear their choice of clothing they must pay $1.00 to do so.
Monday is Columbus Day and there is NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY. When school is closed there is no AfterCare.

Reading: “We Are So Proud” – High frequency words (I,am, red), Identifying and writing letters Ff – Nn, characters and settings in a story.
Phonics: Beginning sounds Ss/Tt, syllables.
Math: Sort by shape, size and color.
Religion: God Creates the World.
Social Studies – How do animals communicate? Johnny Appleseed
Science – How do scientists conduct investigations?
Reminders:
Homework should be completed and returned the next day. Students should have pencils, crayons, scissors and glue available at home to complete assignments. Please use pencils only for writing and crayons for coloring.
Gym days Monday/Wednesday – students wear gym uniforms

Week one is in the books and the students seem to be settling in nicely. This week we begin working in our subject areas.
Our focus for the week of 9/18:
Reading: “The Little School Bus” – Sight words (I,am), Identifying and writing letters Aa, Bb, Cc, Dd, Ee, characters in a story, sequencing.
Phonics: Rhyming, Syllables, Beginning sounds Mm and Aa.
Math: Alike/same, different, sorting by color and shape.
Religion: Kindness
Social Studies: I Love My Neighborhood
Reminders:
“All About Me ” Banner due Monday 9/18. 
Gym days Monday/Wednesday – Students wear gym uniforms.
All forms should be returned to school by 9/18.

Days 1 and 2 were successful and everyone seems to be adjusting nicely. Please remember to sign up for my class dojo and send back your completed forms: Emergency contact, Google Classroom, Technology, and Parent Handbook. These forms are located in the Thursday Folder. If you need assistance locating the forms please reach out to me via email or class dojo. Reminder Monday and Wednesday are gym days students wear gym uniforms. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are regular uniform days.

FIRST WEEK OF KINDERGARTEN!

Good afternoon and Happy Sunday,
It was great seeing everyone at our orientation last Thursday. Tomorrow starts our first week of school and we are so excited to have all of our new kindergarten friends joining us. This week will be all about getting to know one another and getting familiar with rules and routines.
Some reminders:
. Students should be at school by 8:00 a.m. Class begins at 8:15 a.m. Please enter through the front doors unless utilizing before care. Students report to gym for morning assembly.
. Before care is available beginning at 7:00 a.m. Please use back parking lot doors for entry.
. Please send a note or email me if your child is attending aftercare.
. Dismissal is at 2:30 p.m. at the back parking lot. Please refrain from parking in the school lot. Thank you!
. Monday is gym for K-1, students wear gym uniforms and sneakers.
. Please pack a lunch, snack, and a water bottle. Send an extra snack if attending aftercare.
. Hot lunch begins the week of 9/11. Lunch orders are due on Fridays.
. All paperwork should be returned this week along with $8.00 cash in envelope labeled for the Scholastic Weekly Readers.
. Reminder to LABEL everything for your students.

WELCOME TO K-1!
We are so happy that you and your child will be joining our kindergarten family. Hoping you had an amazing summer with many adventures and made some special memories. I look forward to creating our own learning adventures and discoveries within our classroom this year and I am thrilled to embark on this journey with you and your child.
Please join us at our Kindergarten Orientation on Thursday September 7th at 9:00 a.m. We are look forward to seeing all of our new kindergarten families.
Below please find the K-1 supply list for the 2023 – 2024 school year.
KINDERGARTEN SUPPLY LIST 2023-2024;

1 Box of colored pencils
2 yellow highlighters
Dry erase markers (4 pack)
1 Eraser
4 Glue sticks (large size)
1 box of #2 yellow pencils
A change of clothes in a labeled bag (shirt, pants, underwear, socks)
4 Paper towels
4 Baby wipes
4 Clorox wipes

2 Reams White copy paper
Headphones in a ziplock bag labeled with your child’s name.
