Mission Statement

Sacred Heart School is a Catholic community dedicated to recognizing the uniqueness of each child. We strive to develop his or her full potential – spiritually, intellectually, physically, and socially – in a faith-centered environment. Students of Sacred Heart School are encouraged to become responsible citizens able to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

A History of Excellence

Founded in 1956, Sacred Heart School was founded by the parish and the Sisters of St. Dominic of Caldwell to provide children in Lyndhurst, N.J., and surrounding communities with the very best Catholic elementary school education in the area. Since then, the school has undergone many positive changes to meet the evolving educational needs of our families.

In 1983, Sacred Heart introduced the Small Blessings program, a highly-acclaimed early childhood education center that enrolls children in grades pre-K3 through kindergarten. The school also added before- and after-care that year to address the needs of working families. Sacred Heart continues to update its curriculum and extracurricular programs to keep pace with changing times and technologies.

Today, Sacred Heart is a thriving educational community comprised of fully-certified teachers, eager learners and involved parents. Though the number of teaching Sisters has dwindled through the years, their legacy lives on in our classrooms, where Sacred Heart students continue to receive the finest education in the South Bergen area.
