5-8th grade trip

Please not a change:
ALL STUDENTS MUST WEAR THEIR SUMMER UNIFORM.

Assigned chaperones please meet in the lobby by 8:10 , once assembly is over we will have you come into the gym and give you a list of students that will be in your group.
You will be riding on the bus with us as well.


5-8th Grade class trip info

Info on May 7th 5-8th grade trip:

* We are departing promptly at 8:30am but ALL STUDENTS MUST be in school for assembly and taking attendance. Chaperones please make sure you arrive no later than 8:15am.

* Students may bring a drawstring bag and put their lunch in there, as well as, anything you might need. NO GLASS IS PERMITTED.

* You may bring your phone but YOU are responsible to make sure it does not get lost, broken etc.

* There will be snack stands; bring cash just in case. (if you decide to bring any credit card/debit card, it is your responsibility to make sure you do not leave it or lose it)

* The tickets to enter is on a scan that ONLY Mrs. Vasil has, so you need to wait until I get to security to have them scanned it.

* Please be aware of ferry times and the last departing one from Ellis Island. We are departing promptly at 1:30pm

* Parents that are meeting us there – you can not take your child or create a group, they must stay with their assigned chaperone.

* No Child can leave with a parent from Liberty State Park, they must ride the bus back to Sacred Heart School, no exceptions.

* Chaperones, I strongly suggest that you email the homeroom teacher with your contact number, if you have not already.

* We should be returning back to Sacred Heart School before dismissal. If you would like to take your child at that time, you may.


Map Testing

Map testing will begin for 6th grade tomorrow. Please make sure your child is on time for school since we will start promptly. Also make sure all chrome books are fully charged.


Student Council Meeting

There will be a Student Council meeting tomorrow after school in Mrs. Vasil’s room. It will be brief, so make sure you inform your parent to pick up at 3:00 pm

Judging will be conducted after school (students are not staying)

Students MUST return at 6pm and awards will start promptly at 6:30pm

All projects need to be collected at the end of the Awards Ceremony

All research papers, journals and photos MUST BE GIVEN TO Mrs. Vasil (6th-8th) and Mr. Puzio (5th grade)

Scientific Method components:

Problem Question Hypothesis. Materials. Procedure. Data Graph Results and Conclusion

Please note: through the guidance of myself and Mr. Puzio, we made it very clear that all Projects needed to be testable and not just a model. If it is only a model, with no proper data or graphing , points will be deducted.

All of these components with judging will also be used for grading.

I would like to thank Mrs. Canal, Ms. Klein, Mrs. Miles, Mr. Kozemba and Ms. Ferrara for all the hard work in assisting and guiding the students these past few weeks. Without their commitment in assuring all student’s information and the components accuracy, this Science Fair would not be possible.

Science Fair announcement

The Science fair is on April 23rd. All components MUST be completed prior so we can look over your information . The model should be brought in the morning of the 23rd, no later.

For your Science fair you will need:

Research paper (must be printed out)

Model/experiment ( all topics MUST be testable)

Science Fair journal

Small photo album ( can be pics clipped together or put as a collage) of you and your partner/group working on your model/experiment.

Display board: will be worked on in School only

Please make note that you will be working on this during classes the week of April 8th , so you MUST have all of the components typed up in a doc so Mrs. Canal and Ms. Klein can look it over.

We will be printing out the week of April 15th and we will work on the boards.
Materials needed:
scissors,
glue sticks
all printed pages
Subtitles

Subtitles should include: font size is approximately 48-52 (info size is around 36) (Ms. Klein will go over sizes)

Reminder that your test is tomorrow. Study the 2 pages we went over before the break. Flash cards are not permitted!


8th grade test

The scheduled test tomorrow will be postponed until April 8th, due to several students absent today.

It is your responsibility to make sure you have all material to study since this test WILL NOT be further postponed.

Study the packet that I went over with you.

If you were absent you need to reach out to someone to get the correct answers.


Science Fair

1. Research Paper (this has been worked on in class with Mrs. Canal and Ms. Klein)

2. Model ( with an experiment conducted) MUST BE DONE AT HOME

3. Science fair journal (can be a small notebook)

4. Picture album ( pictures that show you and your group working on the model or experiment )

5. Display board (this will be worked on when we return after Easter Break)

BOARDS ARE PROVIDED BUT SUPPLIES NEEDED TO WORK ON BOARD MUST BE BROUGHT IN:

Card stock
any decorations you want on the board
Scissors
Tape


8th grade test review

Bring your packet to class so we can go over the answers.
The test will be exactly like the packet first 2 pages (15-20 questions)

There will be a test on Wednesday on the 1st packet (digestive system)
FLASHCARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED


Class Trip

For any parent that was selected as a chaperone, “Class Parent”, you Must pay the $55 for the trip.

Please do not send in any certificate: Protecting God’s Children.. This does not guarantee you a spot.

If you would like to be on the “wait list” , please email or the Homeroom teacher and once an opening arises we will contact you.

Again, we cannot assess this until after March 25th , when all of the permission slips and payments are made.
