WELCOME to GRADE 1B

Greetings from 1B!

I’d like to welcome you and your child to the start of the new school year.  We are going to have a busy and productive year, filled with exciting learning activities, social events and so much more.

Throughout the school year I will keep you informed of everything that’s going on – classroom plans, your child’s progress and all the activities that that will make this a successful and memorable year.

I am looking forward to sharing this year with you and your child.

Best,

Mrs. Mele

A FEW REMINDERS:

School begins on Wednesday, September 4th.  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will be 12:10 dismissals. After Care will be open.  Please make sure your child knows how they will be going home.

Please check the Summer Resource Center on the school’s website under First Grade.  Your child is to return their Reading and Math packet on the first day of school.  Please have them bring in their supplies from home and send in $21.00 cash ( supply money) which will cover composition books, Scholastic subscription, journal and their supply box for crayons, glue….Please put the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it.

Students in my class do not need a binder.  As far as the folders are concerned, it doesn’t matter if the folders have holes / no holes on them.

First Grade will have snack each morning throughout the year, including early dismissal days.  Please send in a nutritional snack .  No candy, soda, or glass bottles.  The lunch program begins Monday, September 9th.

Please check my blog on a daily basis.  Although children will be writing down their assignments, I will also post the homework and any other information that needs to be shared.

Please email me with any questions or concerns.  I try to check my email first thing in the morning and after school.  I am working with the children during the day and find it difficult to answer emails.  However, I will get back to you by that evening. I appreciate your patience in this area.  Please call the office if you need to reach me immediately. For example, your child needs to go to after care and is not being picked up.

This week will be an orientation for the children.  More information for First Grade will follow next week.  As soon as I find out my Specials schedule, I will post it.  (Gym, Art….)

Please mark your calendar:  Back to School Night:  Thursday, September 19th,  7:00 pm   I’m looking forward to meeting you! As a team, we can make GREAT things happen!

End of the Year

Where has the year gone?  It seems like only yesterday they were walking into second grade!!!  I have enjoyed teaching each and everyone of them.  Each child has their own gifts and talents to share.  I have enjoyed watching them grow spiritually, academically and socially.

I would like to thank ALL of you for welcoming me into the Sacred Heart family and for your support throughout the year.  Thank you for your gifts and kind words.  They are very much appreciated.   Thank you for making sure they were prepared for school each and every day with their homework completed, planners signed, snack/ lunch packed, and  supplies replenished when needed.  The list can go on and on.  When parents and teachers work as a team, the end result is success.

From regrouping to writing in cursive and working on STEM investigations to name a few,  your children have worked hard all year and are now ready to move onto third grade.  Thank you for entrusting me with your children and sharing them with me for a brief time.  I will truly miss them!

Have a HAPPY and SAFE summer!!!  HAVE FUN!!!

See you in September!!!!
