Dear Parents,

The children have settled in and we made it through week 1.

This week we will start working in our books. The beginning lessons are all about kindergarten readiness.

Reading: letter recognition, sight words (I, am)

Phonics: rhyming, syllables, beginning sounds

Math: same, different, alike, sorting

Religion: God Made All Things

Social Studies: Johnny Appleseed

 

 

The student will have homework beginning this week. Your child will go home with a gray folder with homework for that day. It should be completed and returned in the folder the next day. Homework will be given Monday-Thursday.

 

Reminders:

Please return any forms and emergency cards if you have not yet done so.

Gym days are Wednesday and Friday.

Extra masks in backpack and please make sure your child’s mask fits properly.

Lunch, snack every day, please include napkins, utensils and water.

Dear Parents,

A few reminders:

1.  If you would like to be a class parent please fill out the form in the Thursday Folder.

2. Please make sure your child has in their lunchbox napkins and any eating utensils they might need for lunch and snack.

3. Please make sure your child has extra face masks in their backpack and make sure the masks fit them properly.

4. Friday is Book and Tell. Your child should come to class with a book you read or listened to together and tell us something about it.

Our first week has been successful. The children seem to be adjusting nicely and we have not had any issues. They are enjoying the special classes too!

The last two days have been awesome with your children. They are truly enjoying the kindergarten experience.

Tomorrow is our first P.E class. Students should wear their gym uniform and sneakers tomorrow (any sneaker is acceptable for P.E.).

We are still missing several forms that need to be completed from the ‘Thursday Folder”. The following forms need to be completed and returned to school:

Welcome!

It was wonderful meeting and welcoming all of you last week. I am so excited for what I hope will be an awesome and amazing year.

This week we will be spending our time getting to know one another, learning our routines and focusing on classroom rules. We will be reading stories and working on some fun activities as well as practicing writing our names, counting, letter recognition and fine motor skills.

Please make sure your child enters through the parking lot doors. They will be escorted to our classroom by a staff member. This will be the door they enter and exit every day.

Your child should bring to school tomorrow the following:

*Their backpack (labeled)

*The red folder ( this folder goes home and returns to school every day).

*Change of clothes (labeled)

*Parent Information Sheet

*Allergy form

*Emergency cards (Please make sure front and backs are completed)

*Lunchbox  (lunch, snack and water bottles)

Label all items !

 

Homework will begin the week of 9/21. I will send home tomorrow “Ready for Kindergarten Bingo” it is a fun activity for home.  It does not need to be returned.  Practice the skills and try to make a “Bingo”

SHS Face Masks

A note from our HSA President…

Thanks to Mrs. Michele Gilmore, your friendly neighborhood Spirit Wear Guru, we have face masks!!!  They are really cool, and are ready and waiting for you to order, for your child, yourself, and/or your whole family.  Pictures are below. You have design options! There is the School Logo, the Spirit Stripe, the Small Bulldog, and the Large Bulldog.  And most importantly of course, they color-coordinate perfectly with the uniforms. 😉  Many thanks to Michele for her proactive work to secure these.
