Sacred Heart School—
The Smart Choice for Your Child

Sacred Heart School offers exceptional educational programs for students in grades pre-K3 through eight. Our teachers—all of whom are state certified—provide a strong academic foundation that challenges students to excel.

At Sacred Heart School, we’re proud that:
  • Our students routinely score in the top 20 percent on national standardized tests. That’s well above area public schools and it exceeds the national average for all Catholic schools.
  • Our graduates are accepted to some of the area’s most selective high schools, including St. Peter’s Prep, Lacordaire Academy, Seton Hall Prep and Immaculate Conception—some with scholarships!
  • Our spiritual life curriculum sets a moral foundation that lasts a lifetime. In addition to organized religious instruction, service projects on the local, national and even international level are an important component of a Sacred Heart education. In fact, Sacred Heart School was named New Jersey’s Kindest School by Kindness International, Inc. for our outstanding efforts.
  • We offer more than 20 extracurricular activities, from academics and the performing arts to sports including our championship boys and girls basketball teams and medal-winning track team.
Sacred Heart Schoolis one of an elite group of elementary schools accredited by the Middle States Commission on Elementary Education and operates under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Newark.

A Solid Moral Foundation

At Sacred Heart School, we recognize that each child is a precious gift from God. Through formal studies in religious education and participation in community service projects Sacred Heart students develop strong Christian moral values that guide them throughout their lives.

Our Spirituality Committee, which is comprised of faculty members, plans each school year's religious celebrations and activities. A high point of the year is our Catholic Schools Week celebration, which invites parents and guests to tour our school and see our students and teachers in action.

All students beginning in kindergarten take part in a morning assembly, which includes prayer, reflection and recognition of student achievements. Before dismissal, a student council officer leads the students and faculty in a final prayer of the day. Students also participate in formal liturgies. In addition, a prayer wall is set up in the gym, where students can request prayers to be said for their family, relatives, friends, and special intentions.

To learn the importance of community, Sacred Heart students participate in service projects throughout the year including food drives, donating money for disabled or sick children, and collecting Christmas presents for needy families.
